Attractions
The Minocqua/Eagle River area is known throughout the region as a year-round vacation destination with an abundance of activities for every month of the year. Regardless of which season is your favorite, there are plenty of attractions and activities within a very close range of the Petry Lake House. All seasons allow you to take advantage of the serenity that exists here, so check out just some of activities below.
FISHING & ICE FISHING
Cold or hot, the fishing in Northern Wisconsin rivals that of the Canadian wilderness. Pickerel Lake has ideal fishing with an abundance of crappie, bluegill, sunfish, perch, bass, northern pike, muskie and even some walleye (recently stocked). But if you want a change of scenery after a few days, you can hit up any of the 60+ lakes with public access within a 20-mile radius of the Petry Lake House, where there are fish just waiting to be caught. No matter the type of the fishing you enjoy, whether it be bass, northern pike and muskie, walleye, perch, bluegill and other panfish, you will probably not have a hard time finding them.
BOATING, JET-SKIING, WATERSKIING, WAKEBOARDING & TUBING
If you aren’t really into fishing, but can’t wait to get out on the water, Pickerel Lake offers the ideal waters for that. At 735 acres, Pickerel Lake is spring-fed and has a sandy bottom, and since the lake isn’t crowded you can enjoy the quiet serenity. Don’t have a boat or jet ski? With renting companies scattered around the area, you can rent boats, jet skiis and other fun equipment and bring them to Pickerel Lake… we’ll leave our dock in for you.
SNOWMOBILING
Experience the “Eagle River 500”, a 500-mile network of meticulously manicured snowmobile trails. The trail even runs over Lake Pickerel, just a few hundred feet from the Petry Lake House. So stay here and discover why the area is regarded as the “Snowmobile Capital of the World.” If you don’t own a snowmobile, you can always rent one at any of the rental companies around the area.
